Hey!

Ria Vardeleon, M.C., R.Psych

Registered Psychologist

I am a trauma-informed therapist who focuses on helping clients with anxiety, depression, and complex trauma (cPTSD). I can understand the daily challenges and how these symptoms can feel like they are holding you back. I hope to provide you with a comfortable and safe place where we can deepen your understanding of yourself while letting go of the judgments and shame that society has instilled in us. We can even laugh and ugly-cry during this process.

We can work together to process life experiences, heal inner child wounds, break intergenerational cycles, and build self-worth. Change can be scary but I am here to empower you to take control of your life and to embrace your most authentic self.

I am all about authenticity, compassion, and meeting you where you are. I am willing to gently challenge you if needed while genuinely holding space for the parts that hurt. Let's work together to personalize therapy to you and your needs. I look forward to hearing your story.

What is the best piece of advice you have received?

A professor once told me "find what you love and follow it wherever it takes you", and I think doing that is what led me to being a psychologist.

If you could have a day all to yourself, what would you do?

If I had a free day, Annie (my horse), Snickers (my dog), and I would be out on the trails for a very long walk. We would then stop for picnic by the lake, where I could read a book while Annie grazes and Snickers naps.

Do you have a pet? If so, tell us about them?

Yes, I do! I have a German Shepherd - Husky cross named Snickers. She is now 6 years old and we have had her since she was 8 weeks old. I also have horse called Annie, but her official name is Queen of Roses.

What is a book you could read again for the first time?

Definitely Harry Potter. There is nothing quite like getting lost in the magical world of Hogwarts, wizards, and spells. I love reading it to my children at night, turning each chapter into a new adventure and moments that make us all giggle. It is the perfect way to make bedtime magical, funny, and just a little bit enchanting, and secretly, I wish I had my own wand so I could cast a “sleepy time” spell on everyone!

If you weren’t a psychologist what would you be?

I would be a farmer! I need to be on my feet and have variety in my day and being a farmer combines that with my love for nature, animals, and learning.

If you could describe yourself in 3 words, what would they be?

Curious, compassionate, and occasionally funny.

If you could have a superpower to help your clients, what would it be?

I would have the power to transfer my thoughts to my clients, like through osmosis or something like that. Emotions and perspectives can be so nuanced and can be hard to get across.

If you wrote a book about your life, what would the title be?

If I wrote a book about my life, the title would be Chasing Sunshine. It reflects my love for warm weather, adventure, and always seeking positivity and growth. It is a reminder to stay hopeful, embrace new opportunities, and find moments of sunshine even in the rain.

My walk up song would be, "Shake it out" by Florence and the Machine.

What is personal walk-up or entrance theme song?

The most profound thing I have learned since becoming a psychologist is that empathy and active listening can be transformative. Sometimes, simply being truly present and understanding can make a significant difference in someone's journey toward healing and growth. It is a powerful reminder that connection and compassion are at the heart of meaningful change.

What is the most profound thing you have learned since becoming a psychologist?
